Auckland Council - Independent Flood Modelling Review Panel

I had the privilege of working with Professor David Maidment, Emeritus Professor, University of Texas at Austin, and Victoria Boorman of the Greater London Authority, as a member of the Independent Flood Modelling Review Panel convened by Auckland Council in 2025. This media release issued by Auckland Council this month provides more detail on our work.

It was interesting to see the advances made in the 30 years since I led the modelling team for the City Design business unit of the former Auckland City Council. We undertook stormwater and flood hazard modelling for Auckland City Council as well as North Shore City Council and Waitakere City Council on a competitive commercial basis. The region's 233 stormwater catchments are now under the jurisdiction of one unitary authority - Auckland Council.
